We’re frequently treated to the spectacle of Ferrari and McLaren battling it out on tracks around the world during the F1 season, but this year it’s different, with the rare event of the two titans of automotive sport locking horns on the road again.
Yesterday, I had the dubious pleasure of attending the annual BIBA Conference where insurance companies apparently ply insurance brokers with information about their products.
What actually happens is you collect all sorts of stupid marketing tosh designed to promote brands, and catch up with industry gossip, whilst being plied with nice coffee, fancy pastries and sometimes even the odd beer or two. Continue reading Another Boring Insurance Conference?
Unfortunately, my rich friend is not about at the moment, (some personal issues), so I’ve still not been out in the bright, orange beast yet, but at least I managed to collar him and he’s promised me now…
He was only about for a short while, so this post will be quite brief, but with the weather being quite good, (for a change!), I thought I’d grab the opportunity to take some half decent photos of the underneath. I barely got 27 mpg if I drove like an old fart, but with an onboard computer giving fuel economy readouts, I noticed some very interesting things. I know it’s obvious that acceleration uses more energy and therefore fuel but quite how much I didn’t realise, and then there’s also the efficiency of the engine over the rev range. Sometimes it’s quite nice when you have a friend who’s rich. This is his new car, and being the generous sort, he’s going to take me out for a spin in it shortly 🙂
I remember when the Mclaren F1 first made an appearance. I went to see it at the Motor Show in Birmingham. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed that near it, never mind to sit in it, but then at a cool £500,000 (in 1991!) I don’t suppose I’d want thousands of people putting their grubby mitts all over my brand new sports car either!
